About Facebook

Facebook was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. Today, more than 50 percent of Facebook users access the site on their mobile devices. Users are required to sign up (at no charge) to connect to family, friends, and colleagues. Zuckerberg launched this social networking site with the help of his college roommates and fellow students Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes. Initially, it was intended for the students of Harvard only, but with its increased popularity, it became available to students at universities throughout the United States, then to high school students, and finally to anyone aged 13 years and older.
